Summer Workshop in RomeRoman Architecture and Urban History & Design Workshop
As a traditional summer activity at Tunghai University, the summer workshop in Rome offers students the opportunity to explore the culture of one of the world’s most ancient cities. During the workshop, students studied Roman architecture and urban history, integrating these insights into their design concepts, which were then presented in a brief review session.
In addition to the workshop, students also visited Florence, Siena, and several mountain villages, guided by professors to experience and better understand the local culture.

The House of Counsillor Krespel, a novella by E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776-1822), a writer and
composer and one of the major representatives of German Romanticism. In the first
part of his tale, the author describes the realization of the residence of the protagonist that
doesn't exist out of a design project but solely by thinking through the experience of the process of its making. All of this is part of an identification process between the existence
and the creation of an artwork.
The workshop will ask the students to realize an original image or collage representing the strange house of Councillor Krespel.
